An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Construction Supervisor (Topside - Telecom) to join a major offshore oil and gas development. The role will focus on overseeing the construction, installation, testing, and commissioning of advanced telecommunications systems, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications.
Job Description
The Senior Construction Supervisor (Topside - Telecom) will lead all telecom construction activities on-site, ensuring that installation works are performed according to technical requirements, project standards, safety regulations, and agreed schedules. The role includes supervising contractors, coordinating site activities, reviewing construction documents, and participating in pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage installation of Access Control, CCTV, LAN/WAN, PAGA, PABX, and Intercom systems.
- Oversee installation of VHF, UHF, TETRA, Microwave Radio, Voice Recorder, Hotline Network, and Field Telephone systems.
- Manage installation of fibre optic cable splicing and testing, including SDH, PDH, OTN systems.
- Supervise antenna lifting, mounting, alignment, and line-of-sight (LOS) activities.
- Supervise rack installations for Radio, OTN, CCTV, PAGA and other telecom equipment.
- Manage cable tray installation, conduit works, cable laying, cable terminations, and associated construction tasks.
- Supervise daily site activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, standards, and safety regulations.
- Review and approve method statements, commissioning procedures, Redline mark-ups, as-built drawings, and construction dossiers.
- Inspect works and materials in accordance with Inspection Test Plans.
- Monitor project progress against the schedule, identify slippage, and propose solutions.
- Supervise and coordinate with EPIC Contractors throughout construction and commissioning phases.
- Participate actively in pre-commissioning, commissioning, and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
- Conduct daily checks of contractor staff and work completed; maintain detailed daily progress reports.
- Liaise with quality control inspectors and HSE officers to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Participate in engineering and installation reviews, including Constructability Reviews, HAZOP, SIMOPS, Risk Assessments, JSAs, and JHAs.
- Prepare punch lists for completed works prior to handover, ensuring quality requirements are met.
- Provide regular updates and reports on site activities, issues, progress, trends, and recommendations for improvements.
- Ensure full compliance with contractual obligations and project specifications throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Electronics and Communication, IT Engineering, or a related discipline from a recognised institution.
Experience
- 10 to 12 years of direct experience in telecom, radio, fibre optic, and microwave system construction and installation in the oil and gas industry.
- Solid knowledge of telecom system installation, including:
- Radio Systems: Microwave Links, TETRA, VHF, UHF, VSAT, Marine Radio.
- Security Systems: CCTV, PAGA, PAVA, Access Control.
- Fibre Optics: Optical Transmission (SDH, PDH, OTN).
- IP Networking: Switches, Routers, LAN/WAN, Structured Cabling.
- Telecom Systems: PABX, Hotline, Field Telephones, IP Telephony.
- Audio/Video Systems, DC Power Systems, Rectifiers, UPS, Solar Panels, and Batteries.
- Experience in industry best practices, systems, processes, and standards for offshore construction.
- Strong ability to identify installation issues and propose practical solutions.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and reporting skills.
- Proven experience supervising multinational, multi-disciplinary construction teams.
- Solid background in reviewing method statements, test plans, and project documentation.
