A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Construction Supervisor (Structural / Mechanical) to join a major offshore oil and gas development. This position will oversee the full spectrum of offshore structural and mechanical construction, installation, and commissioning activities, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Job Description

The Senior Construction Supervisor will be responsible for managing and supervising all offshore construction activities related to structural steelworks, piping, and mechanical installations. The role includes daily coordination of contractor activities, reviewing technical documents, risk management, and ensuring adherence to project specifications and international industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor, control, and report on contractor performance, manpower allocation, equipment usage, and construction progress.
  • Conduct daily and weekly meetings with contractors, discipline supervisors, QA/QC inspectors, and HSE advisors to address and resolve issues.
  • Act as construction risk management representative, identifying risks, proposing mitigation measures, and ensuring implementation at site.
  • Review and submit daily and weekly construction progress reports, verifying contractor-reported progress.
  • Liaise with senior discipline engineers during all project phases, including design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Review design drawings, method statements, material requisitions, inspection reports, and other project documents.
  • Review and approve contractors' construction plans, schedules, method statements, procedures, and offshore logistics arrangements.
  • Supervise construction and installation activities, including material inspections, testing, fabrication yard work, and offshore operations.
  • Ensure that all construction works are performed according to approved standards, contractual specifications, and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate mechanical completion walkdowns, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities with contractors, vendors, and end users.
  • Maintain detailed daily records of site activities and report any anomalies or contractual deviations, recommending corrective actions.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with work permit conditions and safety requirements.
  • Coordinate mobilisation and demobilisation of contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to offshore locations.
  • Interface regularly with other contractors, departments, and projects to resolve construction-related issues.
  • Make decisions on construction issues within contract guidelines and project procedures, in coordination with the project team.
  • Take full responsibility for site construction management during both normal and out-of-hours operations.
  • Manage site construction efficiently from construction through to pre-commissioning, ensuring safe and timely completion.
  • Proactively identify potential delays, provide input to corrective action plans, and support their implementation.

Qualifications

  • Higher National Diploma (HND) or Diploma in Instrumentation, Electrical, Mechanical, or related discipline from a recognised institution.

Experience

  • 10 to 12 years of direct experience in structural and mechanical construction, installation, and commissioning within the oil and gas sector.
  • Strong experience with steel structure installation, piping, lifting operations, mechanical systems, and offshore construction techniques.
  • Experienced with greenfield, brownfield, and wellhead jacket construction activities.
  • Solid understanding of construction best practices, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven leadership in managing multinational and multi-disciplinary contractor workforces.
  • Strong ability to interpret technical documents, including method statements, lifting plans, inspection test plans, construction schedules, and detailed drawings.
  • Effective communication, conflict resolution, and construction management skills.
  • Proficient computer skills with excellent report writing capabilities.
