An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Construction Supervisor (Pipeline) to join a high-profile oil and gas project. This role is responsible for overseeing pipeline construction, installation, and commissioning activities, ensuring that all work is performed safely, efficiently, and to the highest industry standards.

Job Description

The Senior Construction Supervisor will manage and coordinate the contractor's pipeline construction activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and schedule requirements. The role involves direct supervision of construction teams, coordination with multiple disciplines, and active involvement in planning, execution, and risk management activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor, control, and report on contractor performance, resource deployment, equipment movement, and construction progress.
  • Conduct regular meetings with contractors, discipline supervisors, QA/QC inspectors, and HSE advisors to address and resolve any issues affecting progress.
  • Act as the construction risk management representative, identifying risks, proposing mitigation measures, and ensuring their implementation.
  • Review and submit daily and weekly progress reports, verifying contractor performance data.
  • Collaborate with discipline engineers throughout all project phases, including design, procurement, and execution stages.
  • Participate in the review of detailed design drawings, method statements, material requisitions, and inspection procedures.
  • Review and approve contractor construction schedules, method statements, logistics plans, and offshore procedures.
  • Supervise and coordinate construction activities including material inspections, work inspections, testing in fabrication yards, and offshore installations.
  • Ensure that construction work is completed in accordance with project standards and contract specifications.
  • Coordinate mechanical completion walkdowns, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities with contractors, vendors, and end users.
  • Maintain detailed daily records of construction activities and report any anomalies or deviations.
  • Monitor compliance with work permits and ensure adherence to permit conditions.
  • Coordinate mobilisation and demobilisation of contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to offshore sites.
  • Interface with other contractors, departments, and project stakeholders to resolve construction-related matters.
  • Make decisions on construction issues within contract guidelines and project procedures.
  • Manage all construction activities during normal and out-of-hours operations.
  • Take full responsibility for efficient management of site construction activities through to pre-commissioning and commissioning stages.
  • Alert project management of potential construction delays and contribute to corrective action plans.

Qualifications

  • Higher National Diploma (HND) or Diploma in Instrumentation, Electrical, Mechanical or related discipline from a recognised institution.

Experience

  • 10 to 12 years of direct experience in construction and installation within the oil and gas sector.
  • Strong experience with steel structure installation, piping, mechanical installation, and commissioning, especially in offshore projects.
  • Proven knowledge of lifting operations, lifting plans, and risk assessment.
  • Familiar with construction best practices, systems, processes, and industry standards.
  • Experience with both greenfield and brownfield offshore construction environments.
  • Ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary, multinational teams and contractor workforces.
  • Proficient computer skills, strong communication abilities, and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Deep understanding of engineering standards, quality control, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Strong ability to interpret and review technical documents, method statements, inspection and test plans, schedules, and drawings.
