Senior Civil Structural Engineer (Water Infrastructure)

5 days per week, approximately 8 to 10 hours per day

Role Overview
An experienced Senior Civil Structural Engineer is required to support the delivery of complex water infrastructure projects. This role is well suited to a technically strong engineer with deep experience in potable water conveyance systems who enjoys working across both office and site environments, leading engineering activities and supporting multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver civil and structural engineering activities from concept development through studies, FEED, detailed design, construction support and commissioning

  • Develop, review and manage clear and comprehensive scopes of work for engineering and project activities

  • Undertake site surveys and in-house engineering and design work

  • Prepare, review, check and approve engineering designs, drawings and technical specifications

  • Coordinate civil and structural inputs across multidisciplinary engineering teams

  • Develop, update and monitor engineering schedules to support project delivery

  • Ensure designs comply with approved standards, technical assurance processes and regulatory requirements

  • Review and approve contractor method statements and resolve technical issues during execution

  • Lead and coordinate teams of engineers providing technical support to project delivery groups

  • Embed environmental and safety requirements into all designs and work scopes

  • Review and assess technical deviations and contract changes or variations

  • Evaluate technical bid submissions for scope and specification compliance

  • Support the development, maintenance and application of internal engineering standards

  • Contribute to the development and mentoring of local engineering staff

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering

  • Chartered or professionally registered engineer status is preferred

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in the water sector, specifically potable water conveyance or similar infrastructure

  • At least 6 years experience in a supervisory or senior engineering role

  • Strong knowledge of potable water networks, water loss management, data analytics and asset management

  • Experience in environmental engineering and quantity surveying is advantageous

  • Proven capability in tender review, cost estimation and contractor oversight

  • Solid working knowledge of relevant civil engineering standards and industry codes, including international water sector guidance

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Fluent in English
