Job Overview

  • Deliver high-quality civil engineering design for water-sector projects

  • Support junior team members and CAD technicians

  • Ensure outputs meet safety, quality, and technical standards

  • Contribute to multidisciplinary coordination across all project phases

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide civil engineering design deliverables that meet safety and quality requirements

  • Identify efficient design solutions from project scopes and site visits and communicate clearly

  • Direct and support CAD technicians, junior designers, and graduates

  • Prepare design risk assessments, reports, and specifications

  • Ensure design complies with technical, professional, and industry standards

  • Implement and record project changes for design packages

  • Follow formal processes and procedures for all design work

  • Estimate hours required for design packages and support programme planning

  • Attend and present designs at HAZOP, ALM, KM, and other design review meetings

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 10 years’ civil design experience in the regulated UK water industry

  • Experience delivering hydraulic calculations and hydraulic profiles

  • Graduate, HND, or significant experience from technician level

  • Good IT proficiency and familiarity with design tools

  • Registered with a professional body and working toward chartership

  • Strong communication, planning, and organisational skills

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Chartered Engineer

  • Experience across clean water, wastewater, and infrastructure assets

  • Experience producing outline and detailed civil design deliverables

  • Awareness of construction methods and materials

  • Knowledge of engineering drawing practices

  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle
