Position: Senior Civil Design Engineer – Water
Location: Manchester (Office-based / Hybrid with site visits)
Working Pattern: Office-based with hybrid flexibility, Permanent
Role Overview:
We are partnering with a well-established engineering consultancy delivering civil and multidisciplinary services across the UK water and utilities sector. This senior technical role focuses on producing high-quality civil design deliverables while mentoring and supporting junior engineers on regulated water schemes.
Key Responsibilities:

Produce civil engineering design deliverables compliant with safety, quality, and technical standards

Develop efficient design solutions from site visits and project scopes

Prepare calculations, reports, specifications, and design risk assessments

Guide and support CAD technicians, graduates, and junior engineers

Ensure compliance with water company, industry, and professional standards

Manage design changes, ensuring full implementation and accurate records

Estimate design hours and assist with programme planning

Present designs at HAZOP, ALM, KM, and similar technical meetings
Requirements:

5+ years’ civil design experience within the UK regulated water sector

Experience producing hydraulic calculations and hydraulic profiles
-
HND, degree, or equivalent experience; working toward chartership

Strong technical, communication, and organisational skills

Experience across clean water, wastewater, and infrastructure projects (desirable)
-
Chartered Engineer status (desirable)

Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable)
