Job Description

Our client is in the process of migrating over 300 applications to AWS. To streamline these efforts, an AWS Migration Epic Team has been established, comprising three specialized teams tasked with assisting with the migration of applications, databases and infrastructure from on-premises and Azure environments to AWS.

We are looking for team members for our central migration team providing Data support for the migration from technologies such as MS SQL, Oracle, Postgres andCosmos DB into RDS Postgres. In some cases we will migrate to RDS MSSQL or RDS Oracle, but in the majority of cases this will be database migrations into Postgres from other DB technologies, using analysis and orchestration tools like DMS and SCT, and assisting teams with updating queries and restructuring as needed. We will also use DataSync for larger DBs.

IT operates under a fully Agile organizational model, structured around IT Product Lines (IPLs) and Agile Release Trains (ARTs). Close collaboration with these delivery organizations will be essential to provide the technical services and products required for the migration. The Migration teams will facilitate migration efforts utilizing standardized, reusable AWS and 3 rd  party technologies, while IPLs and ARTs will handle the actual execution of the migrations.

Scope of Work:

Cloud Infrastructure Design and DevOps Implementation:

  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and align with internal AWS IPL for capacity and backlog.
  • Develop and update Terraform and Github Actions scripts for deployment.
  • Design and implement appropriate production monitoring and alerting in collaboration with the internal teams.

Security and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with internal architect ,  and development standards and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with internal control framework (iSMS).

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Work closely with AWS IPL, Infrastructure Architects, Security and other teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure alignment of technical and business goals.

Requirements:

  • Strong experience in database transformation e.g. from MSSQL to Postgres or Oracle to Postgres
  • Strong experience in all of the following database technologies: Postgres, MSSQL and Oracle.
  • Proficiency in AWS migration services (Datasync, DMS & SCT)
  • Proficiency in AWS technologies (RDS, DMS, EC2, EKS, Cloudwatch, IAM).
  • Expertise in optimizing AWS resources for performance, security, and cost-efficiency
  • Expertise with automated database deployment using Github Actions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional) or equivalent certifications.
  • Experience with multi-cloud environments, particularly migrations involving Microsoft Azure.
  • Familiarity with distributed network systems, serverless solutions, and cloud-based security
