Location: Boden, Sweden
Residential/Rotation: 4 weeks on office/site, one week working remote, on rotation. Working 5 days per week, 8 hours per day

Kintec are currently partnered with a Multi-national corporation which provides consulting, engineering, and architecture services Internationally constructing a plant in Northern Sweden that will produce Green Steel – Green Steel production emits up to 95% less CO₂ compared conventional steel production.

ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Senior ATEX & Electrical Inspection Specialist to support electrical installation quality, ATEX compliance, and safety assurance within a large-scale green steel manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate has strong expertise in ATEX/IEC 60079, industrial electrical installations, hazardous area classification, and commissioning support within high-energy, high-risk industrial environments (e.g., steel, chemical, battery, energy production, or heavy process industries). This role focuses on safe installation, verification, and inspection of electrical and instrumentation systems in areas with explosive atmosphere risks, ensuring compliance with EU and Swedish regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

ATEX Compliance & Hazardous Area Work

  • Lead ATEX inspections and compliance assessments in accordance with ATEX directives and IEC 60079 standards.

  • Verify ATEX certifications, gas groups, temperature classes, IP ratings, and conformity of electrical/instrumentation equipment.

  • Conduct hazardous area classification studies and prepare technical documentation.

  • Ensure institutional alignment with European and Swedish (Elsäkerhet) standards and internal safety procedures.

Electrical & Instrumentation Inspection

  • Perform detailed inspections and QA/QC checks during installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical and instrumentation systems.

  • Review engineering documentation, drawings, and test reports to ensure alignment with project specifications and industry standards.

  • Identify non-conformities and track corrective actions to closure.

  • Participate in factory-level and site-level testing activities.

Commissioning & Project Support

  • Support installation and commissioning teams with technical guidance on electrical and ATEX compliance requirements.

  • Coordinate inspection activities with contractors, engineers, and internal project teams.

  • Manage and close punch lists related to electrical and instrumentation compliance.

Training & Technical Advisory

  • Deliver training programs on ATEX awareness, electrical safety, and electrical habilitation (LV/HV).

  • Provide technical advice on equipment selection, installation practices, and overall risk mitigation in explosive atmosphere areas.

  • Support the development and review of operational procedures, SOPs, and work instructions for electrical installations.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare inspection reports, compliance assessments, testing documentation, and equipment traceability records.

  • Maintain accurate logs and databases of installed equipment classifications.

  • Support internal audits and recommend safety and compliance improvements.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.

  • Minimum 8–10+ years experience in electrical inspection, industrial electrical installations, or ATEX compliance.

  • Strong technical knowledge of ATEX, IEC 60079, European directives, and Swedish electrical safety regulations.

  • Experience within heavy industry such as steel manufacturing, battery manufacturing, chemicals, energy production, or other high-risk industrial environments.

  • Ability to interpret complex technical drawings and engineering documentation.

  • Strong experience in QA/QC processes for electrical installation and commissioning work.

Preferred Certifications

  • CompEx / ATEX competency certification (Ex01–Ex04 or equivalent).

  • Electrical Habilitation Certification (LV/HV – e.g., B2V/BE/BR/H2V or Swedish equivalents).

  • QHSE certifications (ISO 14001, ISO 45001) beneficial.

  • Thermography and industrial electrical safety training.
