Position Title: Senior Accountant
Location: Esbjerg, Denmark
Contract Type: Residential Contract Role (Initially until 31st December 2025, with potential to extend)

Role Purpose:
Manage core accounting processes and ensure compliance with internal controls, financial regulations, and audit standards for a global oil and gas supermajor. Support accurate financial reporting and foster continuous improvement of accounting practices and systems.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Participate in monthly, quarterly, and yearly client financial closings, including accruals, reposting, allocations, depreciation, stock adjustments, and customer invoicing.

  • Serve as the SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) Control Responsible—performing, evidencing, and documenting all SOX controls to ensure compliance.

  • Review and analyze balance sheets for group company ledgers.

  • Oversee the posting and clearing of oil and gas invoices.

  • Manage asset accounting, including monthly capitalizations, updates to asset tables and depreciation key rates, and monthly depreciation execution.

  • Support the Shared Service Center (SSC) team with postings and query resolutions.

  • Execute control tasks based on the company closing calendar and implement corrective actions for discrepancies.

  • Ensure adherence to Group procedures and accounting best practices.

  • Identify and suggest SAP process improvements, particularly within FI/CO/AA modules.

  • Support external audits, including financial and cost recovery audits.

  • Provide ad hoc support to team members and the team leader as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of senior-level accounting experience.

  • Proven experience with Danish VAT, tax laws, payroll systems, and DK GAAP.

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.

  • Experience with SAP and BW, particularly in FI, CO, and AA modules.

  • Participation in external audits and familiarity with SOX compliance processes.

Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.

  • Proficient in Excel and financial tools.

  • Proactive and collaborative approach to work, with a strong willingness to learn and contribute.

  • Danish language skills are preferable but not mandatory.

  • Fluent in English (speaking and writing).
