Overview

An expanding engineering consultancy is seeking a highly motivated Senior or Principal Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation (EICA) Engineer to support a growing portfolio of water and wastewater projects across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to lead multidisciplinary design work and contribute to major UK water utility projects. The role encompasses feasibility studies, front-end engineering design (FEED), detailed design, and construction support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of EICA engineers and designers across multiple concurrent projects.

  • Review, approve, and oversee the preparation of electrical and control design deliverables.

  • Coordinate closely with clients, contractors, sub-contractors, and other project stakeholders.

  • Develop electrical load schedules and specify telemetry systems, motor control centres (MCCs), and instrumentation.

  • Prepare detailed scopes for subcontract installation works and conduct technical bid evaluations.

  • Conduct site surveys, support construction activities, and assist with commissioning.

  • Ensure designs comply with applicable national and international standards, including WIMES specifications.

  • Promote safe working practices, environmental sustainability, and Net Zero objectives throughout project delivery.

  • Maintain a strong focus on managing risk, safety, and quality across all aspects of project execution.

Requirements

  • Degree or recognised apprenticeship in Electrical, Electronic, or Control Engineering.

  • Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards Chartership with a relevant professional institution.

  • Strong technical background in EICA design, specifically within the water or wastewater sector.

  • Recent experience in preparing and approving construction documentation.

  • In-depth knowledge of UK regulations including ATEX, CE/UKCA, EMC, and PED.

  • Proven experience managing risk, safety, and quality in engineering project delivery.

  • Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills.

  • Proactive and hands-on approach to problem-solving and project leadership.

  • This is a hybrid role based in London, with flexibility for 2-3 days per week in the office.
