Schedule Leader

Location: Lulea, Sweden
Assignment Type: Annually Renewable Contract
Residential / Rotation: 4 weeks on site, 1 week remote; 5 days per week, 8 hours per day
Sector: Green Steel / EPC Construction
Compensation: Monthly rate, accommodation and flights covered, paid holiday leave

Role Overview

We are partnered with a multinational engineering, consulting, and architecture organisation delivering a Green Steel production plant in Northern Sweden. This role involves integrating, managing, and optimising the master construction schedule while coordinating with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure alignment with project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Integrate and optimise the master construction schedule, ensuring alignment with project strategy

  • Coordinate with supervisors and the construction manager to synchronise field activities and mitigate deviations

  • Implement advanced planning and sequencing strategies to maximise operational efficiency and resource utilisation

  • Establish and lead monitoring and control systems for physical progress, ensuring transparent reporting and data-driven decision making

  • Execute dynamic schedule updates, incorporating actual progress, assessing impacts, and analysing recovery scenarios

  • Generate and present progress curve analyses, segmented by strategic areas, disciplines, and critical work packages

  • Identify and manage scheduling risks, developing contingency plans and recovery strategies

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in project planning and scheduling within large-scale EPC/EPCM environments (mining, energy, oil & gas, infrastructure)

  • Expert-level proficiency in Primavera P6 (mandatory); strong command of MS Project and reporting tools such as Power BI

  • Familiarity with integrated systems such as SAP, EcoSys, or Deltek Cobra is highly desirable

  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary planning teams on megaprojects exceeding $500M USD

  • Demonstrated ability to develop, audit, and optimise integrated schedules across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning

  • Advanced knowledge of CPM, EVM, and Lean Construction methodologies

Technical Skills

Project Scheduling & Planning

  • Creation and maintenance of the master schedule

  • Development of detailed project schedules across permitting, engineering, procurement, construction, and start-up

  • Generation of package-specific schedules for procurement and bidding processes

  • Establishment and maintenance of discipline schedules integrated with the overall project timeline

  • Expertise in WBS development, activity definition, duration estimating, and logical sequencing

Project Monitoring & Control

  • Monitoring and tracking project progress, identifying critical path activities

  • Evaluating project performance using planned vs. earned vs. forecasted hours (Earned Hours analysis)

  • Development of critical path reports and schedule performance metrics

  • Conduct schedule impact analysis to determine risks, delays, and recovery options

  • Coordinate cost engineering and planning requirements with project teams

Progress Reporting & Data Visualization

  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports summarising schedule performance indicators

  • Develop S-curves for overall project monitoring and package-level tracking

  • Identify early and late S-curves using Primavera P6

  • Proficiency in Power BI dashboards for real-time reporting of progress and schedule performance

Soft Skills

  • Strong coordination and communication skills across multidisciplinary teams

  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills for scheduling and risk mitigation

  • Leadership in risk workshops, scheduling reviews, and progress meetings

Languages

  • Fluent English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in outage planning and start-up sequencing

  • Background in mechanical trades or maintenance planning
