This company supports customers in areas such as manufacturing, fabrication, food production, laser cutting, microbreweries, and specialist engineering by offering reliable gas supply, technical application support, and local distribution through regional agents.

As part of their continued growth, they are seeking a technically minded Sales Application Engineer. In this role, you'll combine engineering expertise with commercial acumen to support customers with gas applications, welding mixtures, and process optimisation.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide technical support to customers and the sales team across a range of industrial gas applications, including welding gases, TIG gases, shielding gases, and specialist mixtures.

- Work with customers in sectors such as manufacturing, fabrication, laser cutting, food packaging, and brewing to understand operational requirements and propose suitable gas solutions.

- Support a diverse portfolio of approximately 12 different industrial gases, including propane, welding mixtures, and process gases used in manufacturing and fabrication.

- Deliver tailored technical solutions that improve productivity, product quality, and process efficiency for customer operations.

- Prepare technical proposals and cost-benefit analyses to demonstrate operational improvements and commercial value.

- Support trials, demonstrations, and commissioning of gas supply systems and equipment at customer sites.

- Collaborate closely with distribution partners and local agents providing cylinder collection, delivery services, and regional customer support.

- Develop strong B2B relationships with small and medium-sized industrial customers in your region.

- Manage accounts ranging from smaller customers with an annual spend of around £2,000 to larger industrial users spending up to £250,000 annually.

- Track market trends, competitor activity, and new opportunities within the industrial gas and welding sectors.

About You

- Strong technical background in industrial gases, welding gases, or process engineering environments.

- Experience with industrial gas applications such as welding mixtures, TIG shielding gases, propane, or specialist industrial gases.

- Understanding of gas supply systems, cylinder distribution models, and industrial gas infrastructure.

- Experience working with manufacturing, fabrication, or engineering customers.

- Ability to translate technical engineering solutions into clear commercial value for B2B customers.

- Comfortable working independently across a regional territory while collaborating with broader technical and commercial teams.

- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with SMEs and industrial customers.
