Overview
- We are seeking an experienced Safety Officer to support offshore infrastructure and construction projects.
- The role ensures that all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) aspects are maintained across project design, execution, and operational phases.
- The successful candidate will provide technical safety oversight, guide contractor compliance, and maintain a safe and secure working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical HSE support during project definition, detailed design, and execution stages.
- Monitor contractor compliance with established HSE policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Conduct daily inspections on project sites to ensure work aligns with approved Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Permit to Work systems.
- Identify and implement risk reduction measures across all phases of construction.
- Review and provide inputs on contractors' method statements, JSA's, safety certifications, and related HSE documentation.
- Support senior HSE engineers in implementing project HSE performance monitoring, objectives, initiatives, procedures, guidelines, standards, and corporate policies.
- Ensure compliance with national laws, regulatory bodies, and Qatar-ratified international conventions and protocols.
- Maintain records of project HSE risks and ensure proper monitoring and close-out throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review contractor HSE documentation, including HSE Plans, procedures, and personnel competence prior to mobilisation.
- Conduct incident investigations, ensure proper reporting, and follow up on corrective and preventive actions.
- Lead site safety meetings, HSE awareness sessions, and promote a safety culture among project staff and contractors.
- Perform safety audits and advise on corrective actions, ensuring proper implementation and follow-up.
Requirements
- HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
- Associate membership of a recognised safety institution is preferred.
- Minimum 12 years of operational safety experience, preferably in oil, gas, or petrochemical projects.
- Solid understanding of HSE regulations, standards, procedures, and practices.
- Experience in the Arabian Gulf is advantageous.
- Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and other relevant software.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organisational skills.
- Ability to provide leadership in a multicultural, offshore environment.
