Job Title: Safety Officer

Overview
A leading oil and gas organisation is seeking an experienced Safety Officer to provide technical HSE services across infrastructure and construction projects. The role ensures compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards during all project phases, including design, execution, and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical HSE services to ensure contractor compliance with corporate safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Monitor and inspect project sites to ensure work aligns with approved JSAs, risk assessments, method statements, and permit-to-work systems.
- Identify and implement risk reduction measures throughout all phases of construction and operations.
- Review and verify contractors' HSE documentation, method statements, and certifications; take corrective actions where required.
- Support senior HSE engineers in implementing HSE performance monitoring, objectives, and initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and international safety standards relevant to the project.
- Maintain and update the project HSE risk register, ensuring proper recording, monitoring, and closure of identified risks.
- Conduct incident investigations, reporting, and follow-up on preventive and corrective actions.
- Organise and lead site safety meetings and HSE awareness sessions for project staff and contractors.
- Conduct HSE audits to verify compliance with safety policies and recommend corrective actions.
- Assist in reviewing contractor Safety Officer CVs, competence assessments, and pre-mobilization readiness.
- Compile reports, statistical data, and trend analyses to evaluate safety performance and contribute to updates of HSE codes, standards, and philosophies.
Qualifications & Experience
- HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
- Associate membership of a recognised safety institution.
- Minimum 12 years of operational safety experience, preferably in oil, gas, and petrochemical infrastructure/construction projects.
- Competent in MS Office and other relevant software.
- Previous experience in the Arabian Gulf is desirable.
- Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices.
