We are working with a global energy company to recruit a ROV Specialist for a major offshore development project. This is a long-term opportunity with a diverse scope, covering both preparation and execution phases of complex deepwater ROV operations across international locations.
Role Overview:
As the ROV Specialist, you’ll be the technical lead for all remotely operated vehicle (ROV) activities across multiple offshore vessels. You’ll be instrumental in reviewing procedures, ensuring safe and efficient subsea operations, developing ROV strategies, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams. The role will begin on a residential basis in France and transition to a rotational assignment in Suriname in early 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
ROV Operations Planning & Technical Oversight

Review and optimise procedures related to ROV activities, including installation, maintenance, and tool deployment.

Lead the technical preparation and integration of ROV systems on drilling ships and support vessels.

Develop operational procedures for safe ROV deployment, acoustic beacon deployment, BOP testing, and subsea tool activation.

Promote cost-effective and time-efficient ROV solutions while ensuring quality and safety.
Onsite Operational Support

Coordinate daily ROV activities with engineers, vessel superintendents, and offshore teams.

Monitor ROV performance and maintain accurate records of tools, video footage, and asset status.

Ensure smooth operations through proactive problem-solving and performance analysis.
HSE & Risk Management

Drive a strong safety culture by enforcing HSEQ standards and ensuring contractor compliance with policies.

Identify and mitigate major operational risks and lead by example in safe subsea practices.
Contract & Supplier Management

Prepare ROV strategies, budgets, and technical documentation for tender processes.

Evaluate bids, participate in contract execution, and manage ongoing vendor relationships.

Support the setup of local ROV bases and ensure operational readiness.
Requirements:

Experience: Minimum 10 years in ROV operations, with at least 3 years as an ROV operator and 5 years as an ROV specialist

Education: Degree in engineering or related technical discipline

Languages: Fluent in English and French (both written and verbal)

Strong autonomy and decision-making capabilities

Collaborative, team-oriented attitude with excellent communication skills
