ROV Operations Manager
Location: Puchong, Selangor (Malaysia) — Office-based with offshore travel as required

The Opportunity
An established subsea engineering company is seeking a skilled ROV Operations Manager to lead its offshore operations team. This is a leadership role managing a team of ROV Support Engineers, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of a diverse fleet of Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) supporting global offshore projects.
The successful candidate will play a key role in resource planning, personnel management, technical troubleshooting, and client engagement, while actively contributing to strategic growth, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership:

Plan, coordinate, and oversee offshore ROV personnel deployments to ensure project requirements are met.

Monitor competence and training of offshore teams in line with industry standards (e.g. IMCA).

Lead and resolve employee performance matters, in coordination with HR.

Manage offshore crew recruitment and onboarding processes.
Technical Oversight:

Ensure operational readiness of all ROV systems, maintaining compliance with applicable standards and regulations.

Oversee mobilisation, logistics, and maintenance of ROV spreads and tooling systems.

Monitor technical fault logs and ensure timely corrective actions in collaboration with engineering and workshop teams.

Analyse failure trends and provide feedback to technical teams for continuous improvement.
Client & Commercial Management:

Serve as primary point of contact for client representatives, ensuring service delivery aligns with contractual obligations and client expectations.

Support commercial functions including tender preparation, budgeting, cost control, invoicing data management, and client relationship development.

Contribute to business development, strategic planning, and future growth initiatives.
Compliance & Safety:

Enforce health, safety, and environmental policies across all operational activities, ensuring compliance with company procedures, IMCA standards, local regulations, and client HSE requirements.

Actively support HSE incident reporting, investigation, and closeout.

Ensure full compliance with applicable quality management systems (ISO 9001), environmental management systems (ISO 14001), and occupational health & safety regulations.
Key Requirements

Minimum 10 years’ experience in the oil & gas subsea sector, with comprehensive hands-on experience in ROV operations.

Proven leadership experience in managing offshore teams and supervising remote operations.

Strong knowledge of subsea equipment and IMCA standards.

Competency in workforce planning, budget management, client engagement, and commercial negotiations.

Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to remain composed under pressure.

Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Capable of working independently, as well as motivating and leading cross-functional teams.
Desirable Qualifications & Certifications

ROV Supervisor Competency Certificate (or equivalent recognised training).

Tertiary qualification in engineering, subsea operations, or related field.

Leadership/Management training; Assessor training advantageous.

Financial management competence.
Special Requirements

Offshore travel as required (valid passport essential).

Flexibility for occasional overtime or remote offshore support work.
