Risk & Opportunities Engineer

Location: Lulea, Sweden
Assignment Type: Annually Renewable Contract
Residential / Rotation: 4 weeks on site, 1 week remote; 5 days per week, 8 hours per day
Sector: Green Steel / EPC Construction
Compensation: Monthly rate, accommodation and flights covered, paid holiday leave

Role Overview

We are partnered with a multinational engineering, consulting, and architecture organisation delivering a Green Steel production plant in Northern Sweden. The Risk & Opportunities Engineer is responsible for identifying, analysing, and monitoring project risks, opportunities, and threats throughout the project lifecycle. This role integrates risk management strategies into planning, execution, and reporting processes to support informed decision-making and the achievement of project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of the Project Risk Management Plan

  • Identify, evaluate, and categorise project risks and opportunities in collaboration with discipline leads

  • Maintain and update the risk register, ensuring traceability and alignment with WBS, CBS, and project schedule

  • Facilitate risk workshops and stakeholder interviews to gather inputs

  • Perform qualitative and quantitative risk analysis using Monte Carlo simulation tools (e.g., Primavera Risk Analysis)

  • Propose and track mitigation and enhancement actions, assigning responsibilities and deadlines

  • Provide periodic risk reports and dashboards for internal and client reviews

  • Ensure alignment of risks with cost contingency and schedule buffers

  • Monitor emerging risks and lessons learned throughout the project lifecycle

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related field

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in project risk management or similar roles

  • Familiarity with risk management standards such as PMI, ISO 31000, or AACEI

  • Experience with QRA tools such as Primavera Risk Analysis or @Risk

  • Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, and risk management platforms (e.g., ARM, Safran Risk)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and facilitation abilities

  • Fluent in English

  • RMP or equivalent certification is desirable

  • Team player with the ability to work under pressure in dynamic environments
