QC Inspector - Structural (Brownfield)

Location: Offshore / Site-based, Qatar

Contract Type: Fixed-Term (until end of 2025)

Work Schedule: Offshore rotation or site-based, depending on project phase

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Control Inspector with expertise in structural inspection to support a brownfield offshore project in Qatar. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in welding, NDT, and structural inspections within the oil and gas industry, ensuring that all work complies with international standards and project-specific requirements.

Qualifications Required

  • Technical diploma or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • TWI CSWIP 3.2 or AWS SCWI in welding - mandatory
  • ASNT Level II in Nondestructive Testing (NDT)
  • Experience in welding and NDT methods, including visual and test evaluations

Experience Required

  • Minimum of 10 years' relevant experience in the Oil & Gas downstream sector
  • Background with international consultancy firms, third-party inspection agencies, EPIC contractors, or end users on major projects
  • Proven track record in structural inspections and welding inspections

     

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the quality requirements for fabrication, construction, and installation activities are fully implemented in accordance with approved project documents and quality procedures
  • Oversee contractor, subcontractor, and vendor performance to ensure the use of competent personnel and the adherence to internationally recognised practices
  • Monitor welding activities on site and in fabrication yards, ensuring compliance with approved welding procedure specifications (WPS)
  • Attend and verify procedure qualification records (PQRs) and mechanical testing to ensure compliance with corporate standards
  • Witness welder qualification tests and assess visual and NDT test results
  • Oversee daily NDT activities, providing interpretation of results and ensuring correct implementation of findings
  • Conduct in-process inspections of offshore structural fabrications and topside facilities, ensuring conformity with corporate standards, project specifications, and international codes
  • Report daily to the QA/QC Engineer, highlighting compliance with procedures and standards, and addressing any quality-related concerns

     

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Strong technical knowledge of welding, NDT, and structural inspection within offshore and brownfield environments
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to identify quality issues and provide effective solutions
  • Experienced in working with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality offshore projects
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills, capable of advising and guiding contractors and colleagues on quality matters
