QA/QC Engineer / Quality Engineer
Location: Qatar

Contract: Permanent

Purpose
The QA/QC Engineer ensures the implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of quality standards across all engineering activities and projects. This includes compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and relevant industry codes such as ASME, ASTM, and API. The role covers quality assurance, inspection planning, material verification, documentation control, vendor and client coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain QA/QC procedures in line with ISO 9001:2015 and project requirements

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and specifications (ASME, ASTM, API, ISO)

  • Develop, execute, and monitor Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for projects

  • Conduct inspections of materials, welding, fabrication, and NDT activities

  • Review and verify Material Test Certificates (MTCs) and supplier documentation

  • Maintain QA/QC documentation including WPS, PQR, MTCs, inspection reports, NCRs, and final quality dossiers

  • Identify and resolve non-conformities, performing root cause analysis and corrective actions

  • Compile and submit Material Record Books (MRBs) for review and approval

  • Coordinate inspections and material verification with suppliers, manufacturers, third-party inspectors, and clients

  • Support internal audits and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)

  • Mentor junior staff and site technicians on quality practices

  • Liaise with Sales, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Engineering for inspection planning and document verification

  • Prioritise and assess completeness and compliance of documents and inspections

  • Escalate significant non-conformities or quality issues to supervisors or QA/QC managers

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in QA/QC processes

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of QA/QC processes, welding inspection, NDT methods, and material inspection

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015, ASME, ASTM, API, and other industry codes

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis

  • Accurate documentation and reporting skills; audit-ready record keeping

  • Effective liaison with vendors, clients, and internal teams

  • Leadership and mentoring abilities

  • Attention to detail, teamwork, time management, and professional communication

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in QA/QC engineering, preferably in the oil & gas or industrial sectors

  • Preferred certifications: ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor, CSWIP 3.1, AWS CWI, or equivalent
