QA/QC Engineer / Quality Engineer
Location: Qatar
Contract: Permanent

Purpose
The QA/QC Engineer ensures the implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of quality standards across all engineering activities and projects. This includes compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and relevant industry codes such as ASME, ASTM, and API. The role covers quality assurance, inspection planning, material verification, documentation control, vendor and client coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain QA/QC procedures in line with ISO 9001:2015 and project requirements

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and client specifications (ASME, ASTM, API, ISO)

  • Develop, execute, and monitor Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for projects

  • Conduct inspections of materials, welding, fabrication, and NDT activities

  • Review and verify Material Test Certificates (MTCs) and ensure accuracy of supplier documents

  • Maintain QA/QC documentation including WPS, PQR, MTCs, inspection reports, NCRs, and final quality dossiers

  • Identify, document, and resolve non-conformities; perform root cause analysis and propose corrective actions

  • Compile and submit Material Record Books (MRBs) for client review and approval

  • Coordinate inspections, testing, and material verification with suppliers, manufacturers, third-party inspectors, and clients

  • Support internal audits and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)

  • Mentor junior staff and site technicians on quality practices and inspection procedures

  • Liaise with Sales, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams for inspection planning, documentation, and material handling

  • Prioritise and independently assess completeness and compliance of documents and inspections

  • Escalate significant non-conformities or quality issues to supervisors or QA/QC managers

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance QA/QC processes

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of QA/QC processes, welding inspection, NDT methods, and material verification

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015, ASME, ASTM, API, and other industry codes

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and non-conformity resolution

  • Excellent documentation and reporting skills; able to produce audit-ready records

  • Effective vendor, client, and internal team coordination skills

  • Leadership and mentoring abilities for junior staff

  • Attention to detail, professional communication, teamwork, and time management

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in QA/QC engineering, preferably in the oil & gas or industrial sectors

  • Preferred certifications: ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor, CSWIP 3.1, AWS CWI, or equivalent
