Position Overview
An experienced Project Controls Lead is required to oversee and deliver effective project administration, planning, scheduling, cost control, and reporting activities for a major onshore energy project. The role involves establishing efficient control procedures, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring contractor performance meets project standards and objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish project control systems, procedures, and reporting tools to support timely, cost-effective delivery.
- Lead planning, scheduling, cost estimation, change control, and reporting activities across the full project lifecycle.
- Coordinate input from engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning to consolidate performance data.
- Monitor and assess contractor and subcontractor controls, ensuring accurate progress tracking and compliance.
- Develop and implement the Project Control Plan and ensure integration with wider business processes and tools.
- Interface with project managers, business managers, and contractors to provide insight into cost and schedule performance.
- Support development of key deliverables including project management reports, forecasts, dashboards, and trends.
- Review and verify contractor invoices, resolve queries, and ensure compliance with internal audit standards.
- Manage change control processes, incorporating impacts into revised budgets and schedules.
- Ensure all project controls deliverables are developed in line with quality and governance requirements.
Candidate Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Project Management, Supply Chain, Finance, Law, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in business-related functions, including 4+ years in the oil & gas sector.
- At least 1 year in a supervisory role or managing contractor/subcontractor/vendor activities.
- Strong background in planning, cost control, risk/change management, procurement, contract management, and project reporting.
- Prior experience with EPC contractors, vendors, or operators in the oil and gas industry.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Primavera P6, SAP, data analytics platforms, and dashboard/reporting tools.
- Strong understanding of project controls disciplines and best practices.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and document control systems knowledge.

- Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage deadlines, and collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams.
