Job Title: Project Safety Officer

Overview
An energy infrastructure project is seeking a Project Safety Officer to drive health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance on-site. The role ensures contractors and project teams adhere to safety policies, procedures, and regulations while supporting risk reduction and project safety performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and implement site HSE activities, ensuring compliance with corporate HSE standards, policies, and procedures.
- Monitor project sites daily, ensuring work aligns with approved Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Permit to Work systems.
- Identify risks and implement mitigation measures across all phases of construction and operations.
- Review contractor method statements, safety certifications, and other HSE documentation, raising concerns as necessary.
- Support senior HSE engineers in monitoring HSE performance, objectives, and initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with HSE legal requirements, regulations, and relevant international conventions.
- Maintain and update project HSE risk registers for proper recording, monitoring, and close-out.
- Review contractor HSE documentation and assess the competence of Safety Officers prior to mobilization.
- Investigate incidents and accidents, implement corrective and preventive actions, and ensure proper reporting and follow-up.
- Conduct site safety meetings and raise awareness among project staff and contractors.
- Perform safety audits and recommend corrective actions to ensure compliance with corporate safety policies.
- Contribute to the development and update of HSE codes, standards, specifications, and guidelines.
- Prepare HSE reports, including statistical and trend analyses, to support safety performance monitoring.
Qualifications & Experience
- HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline; associate membership of a recognised safety institution is advantageous.
- Minimum 12 years' experience in operational safety, preferably in Oil, Gas, or Petrochemical infrastructure/construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, standards, procedures, and best practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and other relevant HSE software.
- Experience working in multicultural environments is preferred.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and risk management skills.
