Project / Interface Engineer - Sohar, Oman (Resident Role)

Status: Resident, 5 days per week

Duration: 12 months (renewable)

Start Date: As soon as possible

We are currently supporting a leading energy infrastructure project and are seeking a Project / Interface Engineer to be based in Sohar, Oman. The successful candidate will coordinate interfaces between engineering, construction, commissioning, and various project stakeholders. This is a key role for ensuring smooth collaboration, preventing delays, and maintaining alignment between packages.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all interface activities between the Sohar package and other project packages
  • Ensure timely handling of all technical and operational interfaces
  • Promote and ensure compliance with all project governance, HSE policies, and code of conduct
  • Support implementation of the HSE plan and sustainability roadmap
  • Ensure confidentiality and protection of intellectual property
  • Liaise with and report to the Interface Coordinator
  • Assist Package Managers in planning and executing interface management
  • Attend and contribute to interface meetings (weekly, monthly, and ad hoc)
  • Track and follow up on interface action items, logs, and punch list close-outs
  • Prepare weekly performance reports for the EPCC contractor
  • Resolve non-compliances related to field interfaces
  • Contribute to internal and external audits and project reviews

Profile & Competencies

  • Engineering degree or equivalent
  • 10 years' professional experience, with 4-5 years in a similar role
  • Proven ability in interface management, project coordination, and stakeholder engagement
  • Strong cross-cultural communication and influencing skills
  • Highly self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working independently
  • Team player with the ability to share knowledge and mentor others

  • Interface Management: Excellent
  • Project Management: Intermediate
  • Software: MS Office, eRoom/PIMS: Excellent
  • Team Leadership: Good
  • Contractor Negotiation: Good
  • Risk Identification and Management: Good
  • Knowledge of industry standards and procedures: Good

Languages

  • Fluency in English and French (both mandatory)
