JOB DESCRIPTION

Duties:

Develop and realise asset-based solutions that enable the Client to become fossil free within one generation. Our focus areas enable us to play a key role in driving realisation of the Clients strategy in supporting growth and greening the portfolio. When it comes health and safety, we're helping our projects protect our team members and communities. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Project Health & Safety Manager to coordinate and support one of our projects in Uppsala, Sweden.

As part of our team, in this initial remit you will provide Health & Safety (H&S) support and leadership to a (EPCM) project at the Clients facilities in Uppsala. You'll serve as a business partner working with Line of Business (LOB) H&S Manager, Project Manager, Construction Manager to lead H&S excellence and deliver a project ensures no worker injuries or negative impacts to our Client's business continuity.  We'll ask you to support H&S performance that is inclusive of the Client vision and strategic plans as well as provide overall leadership, management and direction to the team assigned.

We'll rely on you to take personal ownership and responsibility for protecting people from harm and for driving strategies and performance while supporting continuous improvement. You'll own and maintain open communication with the LOB H&S Manager(s) as well as peer LOB H&S team members to provide technical resources guidance, to ensure alignment and to assure consistent implementation of H&S process tools that support LOB H&S strategic plans and objectives.

By establishing working relationships, you'll provide visible support and leadership to the Projects and LOB stakeholders by providing interpretation, training, technical review and support, regulatory guidance and governance oversight to ensure alignment and consistent implementation of the Client H&S program.

You'll be charged to lead/support incident notification, investigation and reporting process. You'll develop the Client project specific H&S plans, Employers Requirements, review of (sub)contractors, review of hazard assessments and deliverables, and participate as required in engineering, construction, commissioning and operational readiness reviews or other forums relevant to project success.

The only travel anticipated with this role is to and from the office/project sites in Uppsala. Business and Project meetings may require additional travel.

Skills:

      Minimum 3 to 5 years of demonstrated professional experience in a similar leadership role in managing Construction Health and Safety, including up to H&S staff direct reports and managing (sub)contractors

Experience with managing and conducting safety compliance and leadership training

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Teams, Excel, Outlook and Power Point

Demonstrated interpersonal relations and personnel management skills

Working knowledge in applicable regulatory compliance, as well as all Swedish and local H&S requirements

An ability to speak Swedish and English

The Project Health & Safety manager requires the ability to cater successfully to multiple task masters - support of H&S staff in the field, leadership and vision for Project and Construction Managers and other field staff, a supportive but directive environment to ensure (sub)contractor success, a leadership style that role models and demonstrates a culture of inclusion and caring for our craft workforce stakeholders, and finally the development of a rapport, partnership, and a communication style which engenders confidence and trust with our stakeholders. This requires flexibility, excellent communication skills across a wide cross section of stakeholders, empathy, commitment, and dedication to the delivery of a project approach which ensures workers go home safely every day. 

While administrative duties associated with a role such as this are many, to role model what's expected and the delivery of Client H&S culture, also this work is in the field where the work takes place and developing relationships with the team members delivering it.

Education:    

A Professional H&S certification and/or bachelor's degree in safety or related field.
