Project Engineer - Renewable Energy (Wind, Solar, BESS, Hybrid)

Location: Denver, CO

Employment Type: Full-time

Work Schedule: 9/80 (every other Friday off)

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Project Engineer to join a growing renewable energy team. This role will manage large, multi-discipline renewable projects, including wind, solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and hybrid solutions. The position is split between technical engineering work (PE license required) and project management. You will work closely with utilities, developers, EPC contractors, and external consultants, ensuring the successful delivery of projects from concept through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical review of design deliverables and ensure accuracy.
  • Coordinate across disciplines and support collaboration with client project managers and engineers.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to align project outcomes.
  • Review and evaluate technical RFPs; support proposal and cost estimate development.
  • Initiate projects by preparing work scope, budget, and schedules.
  • Define and clarify project scope with teams to meet client expectations.
  • Lead project teams and subcontractors to achieve project goals and deliverables.
  • Conduct technical reviews of project work and serve as Engineer of Record where required.
  • Lead large meetings/calls with multiple stakeholders, drive consensus, and track resolution of action items.
  • Ensure seamless integration of design, interconnection, and construction phases.

Required Skills and Experience

  • BS in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • PE license required.
  • 8-10 years of relevant project engineering experience.
  • Multi-year experience leading renewable design projects (>20 MW).
  • Strong knowledge of wind, solar, BESS, and high-voltage substation systems.
  • Skilled in project management processes for development, analysis, design, interconnection, and construction.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and leadership skills to build relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to implement new processes and promote a safety-focused culture.
