Job Title: Project Controls Professional Associate Power BI
Client: Pioneering Green Steel Production Company
Assignment Type: Annually Renewable Contract Basis
Location: Boden, Sweden
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday (8 hours per day)
Kintec are currently partnered with a pioneering Green Steel Production Company who are constructing a plant in Northern Sweden that will produce Green Steel - Green Steel production emits up to 95% less CO ₂ compared conventional steel production.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Key Responsibilities:
Project Documentation & Reporting
- Assist in preparing and formatting technical reports, schedules, and dashboards using standardized templates.
- Support the generation of project status updates, charts, and visualizations using Microsoft Office and Power BI.
- Ensure reports are structured, accurate, and professionally presented in line with project control standards.
Planning Support
- Learn and apply basic principles of project scheduling and project controls using tools like Primavera P6, MS Project, and Power BI.
- Support schedule updates, data entry, and extraction of relevant planning reports.
- Organize and maintain planning registers and logs.
Performance Monitoring
- Assist in collecting and organizing data for progress and performance reporting.
- Track physical progress of construction quantities and help compile site progress inputs.
- Assist in tracking trends, variances, and KPIs.
Power BI Development (Specialized Track)
- Design and maintain Power BI dashboards to support real-time reporting of project progress, performance, and KPIs.
- Develop data models, calculated columns/measures (DAX), and Power Querytransformations based on planning and site data.
- Connect and integrate multiple data sources (Excel, SharePoint, SQL, P6 exports) into Power BI for automated reporting.
- Implement and maintain refresh schedules, data validation checks, and performance optimization techniques.
- Work with planners, cost engineers, and project managers to translate data needs into clear visual reports and insights.
- Support development of standardized Power BI templates and reporting packs used across the project or program.
Technical Systems & Tools
- Learn to operate and support project control software including Power BI, Excel, and Primavera P6.
- Assist in standardizing and improving reporting templates and analytics frameworks.
- Contribute to process automation and reduction of manual reporting tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field, or
- Technical diploma in Planning, Data Analytics, or a related field.
Experience:
- For degree holders: 0-4 years of relevant experience
- For diploma holders: 2-6 years of relevant experience
Required Skills & Competencies:
MS Office & Reporting Tools:
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Working knowledge of Power BI for data visualization and dashboard creation.
- Familiarity with SharePoint, Primavera P6, or MS Project is an advantage.
Power BI Development:
- Ability to create clean, well-structured dashboards and visuals.
- Basic knowledge of DAX, Power Query, and data modeling.
- Experience connecting multiple data sources and managing workspace datasets is desirable.
- Interest in improving reporting efficiency and promoting data-driven decision-making.
Communication:
- Ability to clearly and professionally present data in both written and visual formats.
- Structured work habits and good attention to detail.
Learning & Development:
- Demonstrated interest in building technical and analytical skills in Power BI and Project Controls.
- Willingness to learn project planning and performance measurement tools.
Career Path Development:
This role includes a development path for both Planning & Scheduling and Power BI/Data Analytics. Associates will receive mentoring and structured training and are encouraged to pursue certifications such as Microsoft PL-300 (Power BI Data Analyst), AACEi CCP, or PMI-SP.
Level of Engagement:
Supports - The Associate will perform basic to intermediate tasks under supervision, observe planning and reporting processes, and progressively take ownership of Power BI dashboards and planning deliverables.
