Production Planning Engineer – Oil & Gas

The Opportunity
We are seeking experienced Production Planning Engineers to join a major upstream operator in Qatar. This role is responsible for executing the Upstream Integrated Gas Volume and Activities Plan (UGP/IAP), ensuring uninterrupted delivery of feed-gas from wells and reservoirs to LNG trains. The position is highly collaborative, involving close work with operations, drilling, and reservoir teams to support production optimisation and development planning across offshore and onshore facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Planning and Coordination

Develop and execute the Integrated Activity Plan (IAP) and Upstream Gas Plan (UGP)

Coordinate well testing and water injection programmes with operations and reservoir teams
-
Maintain system network performance and well performance models
-
Monitor reservoir and facility performance against defined production boundaries
-
Implement contingency plans to mitigate short-term production shortfalls or downtime
Production Surveillance and Optimisation
-
Analyse production system data from reservoir to facilities
-
Manage surveillance and optimisation parameters such as H2S, water cut, casing pressure, and condensate
-
Support real-time monitoring and modelling using in-house tools and standards
-
Recommend additional data acquisition or changes to optimise production
Stimulation and Well Performance

Propose and support stimulation strategies and execution
-
Monitor post-stimulation well cleanup, performance, and effectiveness
-
Conduct PLT interpretation and recommend remedial actions such as re-stimulation
-
Provide technical input to well intervention scopes (WIS) and well engineering programmes (WEP)
Data Management and Reporting

Perform well production back-allocation based on reservoir engineering and PLT data
-
Contribute to monthly and annual reconciliations at all fiscal meter levels

Validate measurement accuracy and ensure compliance with production accounting standards
Candidate Requirements
Education:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related discipline
Experience:
We are considering applicants across three levels of seniority:
-
5+ years in Production Operations, Planning, or Optimisation within Oil & Gas
-
Minimum 2 years in production technology roles (e.g., well modelling, stimulation, PLT interpretation, forecasting)

Familiarity with well performance evaluation methodologies, reservoir depletion methods, and production planning systems

Experience with stimulation operations, production system analysis, and well intervention planning
-
Working knowledge of drilling, reservoir management, fluid sampling, and offshore/onshore operations

Knowledge of flow assurance, metering, and pipeline network systems
-
Prior exposure to Middle East upstream operations is an advantage
Tools & Skills:

Proficient in production planning software and integrated asset modelling

Strong coordination, problem-solving, and communication skills

Ability to analyse multi-source production data and integrate findings into operational strategy
