Contract Type: Fixed-term, 2 years initial contract, extendable

Work Schedule: 5 days per week, 8-10 hours per day

Overview

An international energy operator is seeking a Procurement Specialist to provide materials management and procurement support across multiple engineering and project initiatives. The role involves oversight of project materials, vendor coordination, and ensuring timely delivery of materials to support project execution. The successful candidate will contribute to developing and implementing effective procurement strategies and materials management processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide procurement and materials management support for ongoing projects, including shutdown projects.
  • Support project teams in finalising procurement strategies, cost estimates, and delivery schedules for long lead items.
  • Review and approve contractors' procurement and materials management processes.
  • Supervise SAP-BOM updates in line with project close-out requirements.
  • Track and monitor project materials to ensure timely delivery to site.
  • Manage surplus material inventory and blinding material for ongoing projects and shutdowns.
  • Oversee procurement of long lead items through the company purchasing function.
  • Review and approve project materials reconciliation reports and coordinate with QA/QC, warehouse, and contractors for inspections.
  • Maintain and update the Preferred Vendor List based on vendor prequalification approvals.
  • Supervise and guide the work of materials coordinators, ensuring compliance with roles and responsibilities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent. Relevant certification in materials management is advantageous.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in materials management within the oil and gas industry, including brownfield projects.
  • Experience in SAP MM module, including procurement, expediting, and logistics functions.
  • Proven experience in vendor development, including prequalification activities.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement, materials management, project management, supply chain processes, risk management, and team leadership.
  • Excellent communication, report writing, and presentation skills. Ability to coach and mentor team members.

  • This position is based in Qatar. Candidates must be eligible to work in the country.
