Procurement Lead – Qatar

Overview
A leading energy project is seeking a Procurement Lead to oversee all contractor procurement activities. The role ensures timely, cost-effective, and compliant delivery of project materials and services. You will work closely with project teams, contractors, and vendors to maintain alignment with project objectives and schedules while promoting best-practice procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain alignment with the project management team on procurement objectives, scope, and execution plans.

  • Manage procurement of long-lead items, including preparation of tender packages, tender evaluation, and purchase order administration until assignment to contractors.

  • Ensure compliance with project procurement procedures and oversee contractor adherence to procurement processes.

  • Communicate and report on procurement activities, progress, and cost data; identify and advise on potential procurement issues.

  • Oversee contractor execution of materials management and expediting processes.

  • Review required spare parts lists and supervise contractor execution of spares procurement plans.

  • Ensure vendor qualification processes are implemented and maintain an updated project vendor list.

  • Support the development and administration of contractor subcontracting plans as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, Law, Accounting, or related field.

  • Minimum 8 years’ procurement experience in major oil and gas projects or similar large-scale industrial projects.

  • Strong knowledge of procurement best practices and the industrial supply chain market.

  • Ability to operate autonomously, handling multiple priorities in a results-oriented manner.

  • Excellent organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Proven ability to work under pressure, manage changing priorities, and influence teams and contractors.
