Job Title: Downstream Risk Engineer (Process Safety / Operations Engineer)

An experienced Downstream Risk Engineer is required for a role focused on process safety and operational risk assessment within complex industrial sectors. This is a critical position for someone with a strong engineering background and prior experience in risk surveying, ideally within insurance or risk consultancy services.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct technical risk assessments across industrial facilities to evaluate safety systems, site conditions, and operational controls

Support accurate risk pricing by identifying risk characteristics and evaluating existing risk mitigation measures

Investigate major incidents or equipment failures to assess liability and recommend preventive measures

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to improve risk selection, assessment, and pricing efficiency

Develop and enhance virtual survey methodologies and related tools for remote risk evaluation

Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance survey effectiveness and reduce costs

Assist in designing bespoke risk management solutions tailored to client-specific requirements
Qualifications and Experience

Degree-qualified in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering

10 to 15 years of experience in the Refinery, Chemical, Petrochemical, Hydrogen, or COMAH-regulated sectors

Prior experience as a Risk Engineer or Surveyor in insurance or related industries is essential

Additional experience in the Oil and Gas sector is advantageous
