JOB TITLE: Process Lead Engineer (Gas Processing)

CLIENT: A prominent regional entity delivering end-to-end EPC solutions across marine infrastructure, offshore energy, and dredging operations.

LOCATION: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

ASSIGNMENT TYPE: Permanent Hire Staff role/ Full Residential role in UAE

WORK SCHEDULE: 9 hours (including lunch break)- From 8am to 5pm- Monday to Friday (Saturday & Sunday are week off)

START DATE: Late 2025/ Early 2026 - Depending on successful candidates circumstances

ROLE / PURPOSE:

Responsible for the design, engineering, and technical leadership of upstream, midstream, and gas processing projects, primarily during Concept, Select, and FEED phases. Ensures the accuracy, optimization, and integration of process deliverables while guiding, mentoring, and training process engineers. Experience in downstream industries (Refineries, Petrochemicals) is an advantage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead Process Engineering for gas processing facilities: GDU, GSU, NGL recovery, cryogenics, DPDU, compressors, expanders, and process & utility systems.
  • Provide technical input during tendering: review client enquiries, Scope of Work (SoW), pre-bid engineering, man-hour estimates, and bid preparation.
  • Develop and maintain Process Design Basis, Design Philosophies, and engineering guidelines.
  • Review and perform process simulations (HYSYS, PROMAX, ProTreat) and guide engineers in developing Heat & Mass Balances.
  • Supervise process engineering activities including equipment/instrument sizing, calculations, pipeline hydraulics, PFDs, P&IDs, datasheets, and other deliverables.
  • Evaluate vendor/consultant offers for process packages, specialized studies, and technical bid evaluation.
  • Lead HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, and other safety studies; provide process inputs and ensure closeout of recommendations.
  • Review equipment layouts, participate in design & 3D model reviews.
  • Prepare operating manuals, philosophies, procedures, and performance guarantee procedures; support commissioning and performance runs.
  • Monitor project man-hours and budgets; ensure projects are delivered within approved resources.
  • Develop in-house tools, spreadsheets, and software to automate or simplify process work.
  • Act as Project Engineering Coordinator if assigned, coordinating multiple disciplines and ensuring integration.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • B.Sc. / B.E. in Chemical Engineering from a recognized institute.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in upstream & midstream Oil & Gas projects, particularly gas processing; at least 6 years in LDE roles during Concept, FEED, and Engineering stages.
  • Proven knowledge in process simulation software: HYSYS, PROMAX/ProTreat (essential); PIPESIM, OLGA, TGNET, TLNET (preferred).
  • Experience in process calculations, PFDs, PSFDs, P&IDs, and Safe Charts.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant engineering codes and standards.
  • Experience leading engineering work in mega-size FEED/EPC projects.

TECHNICAL SKILLS / SOFTWARE:

  • Aspen HYSYS, UNISIM, PRO/II (steady state & dynamics simulations)
  • PROMAX / ProTreat, PIPESIM, OLGA, PVTSim, Multiflash (preferred)
  • Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint
