Control Systems Engineer – Manchester (Hybrid)

A major industrial manufacturing site is seeking a Control Systems Engineer to support operational reliability, system enhancements, and ongoing modernisation across UK and EU facilities. This role suits someone who enjoys problem-solving, influencing plant performance, and working closely with operations and maintenance teams.
Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and test control system modifications required for equipment upgrades, capacity expansions, process improvements, or new product introductions.

Provide technical troubleshooting support to operations teams and field technicians.

Conduct system analysis, scoping studies, front-end design work, and collaborate with external engineering partners where required.

Play an active role in plant safety initiatives and maintain compliance with site safety procedures.

Ensure control systems are optimised for safe operation, maintainability, and long-term reliability across the Manchester and EU manufacturing sites.

Maintain and improve existing control system architectures, documentation, operating procedures, and maintenance standards.
Requirements

Degree in Engineering or relevant discipline preferred.

Experience in control systems engineering within chemical, petrochemical, refinery, or related heavy process industries.

Strong background in distributed control systems and plant automation.

Proven capability in troubleshooting, system optimisation, and supporting operational teams.

Ability to manage design works, analyse system requirements, and implement improvements safely and efficiently.

Strong communication skills and a collaborative, safety-focused work approach.
