Principal Pipeline Engineer

An established international engineering organisation is seeking a Principal Pipeline Engineer to join their team in Paris. This is an opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of pioneering energy projects spanning carbon capture, hydrogen infrastructure, renewables, and both onshore and offshore developments.
This role suits a highly experienced pipeline engineer looking to take a lead position in technically challenging projects across the energy transition landscape.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver engineering design for rigid pipelines (onshore and offshore) across all phases of the project lifecycle, from concept selection to execution.

Lead design activities for both brownfield and greenfield developments, including sustainability-driven initiatives such as carbon capture.

Act as the Design Lead on major projects, overseeing discipline teams and ensuring high-quality delivery.

Supervise preparation of project deliverables and manage pipeline engineering resources and hours.

Conduct and review technical analyses, including route optimisation, mechanical design, stress calculations, buckling, span and free-floating studies.

Guide CAD teams in the development of pipeline layouts and detailed drawings.

Develop technical documentation such as datasheets, technical specifications, and requisitions.

Evaluate supplier bids and assist in the procurement process.

Lead the resolution of technical issues through queries and deviation assessments.

Define inspection and maintenance strategies, and support emergency repair planning.

Attend manufacturer and vendor sites when required to support execution.

Represent the pipeline discipline in cross-functional project interfaces.

Stay abreast of latest standards and contribute to internal procedure development.

Promote and uphold health, safety, environmental, and quality practices.

Willingness to undertake short visits to operational or partner offices globally.
Requirements

Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.

Strong experience delivering pipeline engineering through all project stages: concept, FEED, and detailed design.

Proven record of working on both onshore and offshore oil & gas and/or low-carbon energy projects.

Ability to manage large engineering scopes, lead discipline teams, and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
