Overview

We are supporting a significant increase in workload across the UK water sector and are seeking a Senior or Principal EICA (Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation) Engineer to join an established and fast-growing design team.

In this technically rewarding and leadership-focused role, you will work across feasibility, FEED, detailed design, and construction support phases on water and wastewater infrastructure projects. You’ll lead a small EICA team, oversee technical deliverables, and interface with major UK utilities and project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of EICA engineers and designers across multiple live water sector projects

  • Approve and review electrical and control engineering deliverables throughout the project lifecycle

  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, contractors, and cross-functional stakeholders

  • Develop Electrical Load Schedules and specify MCCs, telemetry systems, and instrumentation

  • Prepare installation scopes and perform technical bid evaluations

  • Support site surveys, installation coordination, and commissioning

  • Ensure compliance with WIMES and relevant national/international engineering standards

  • Promote and embed safety best practices, quality standards, and Net Zero sustainability principles

Essential Experience and Skills

  • Degree or apprenticeship in Electrical, Electronic or Control Engineering

  • Chartered Engineer (or actively working toward Chartership)

  • Extensive design experience in EICA engineering, ideally in the water/wastewater industry

  • Strong documentation and approval skills, especially for construction deliverables

  • Working knowledge of UK regulations including ATEX, CE/UKCA, EMC, and PED

  • Proficient in risk, safety, and quality management within engineering delivery

  • Proven leadership, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience delivering projects to AMP standards or UK utility frameworks

  • Working knowledge of WIMES specifications

  • Prior involvement with multidisciplinary teams in infrastructure delivery

  • Familiarity with Net Zero and carbon reduction strategies in engineering
