Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to join a well-established engineering consultancy with a strong pipeline of long-term projects in the energy sector. This is an opportunity to work on complex electrical engineering designs, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to impactful projects across nuclear, hydrogen, and water infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities

Provide specialist electrical engineering input on a range of projects and proposals, including drafting, reviewing, and approving technical documentation

Support the development of junior engineers and graduates through guidance and mentoring

Deliver high-quality engineering outputs that meet project schedules, budgets, and client expectations

Ensure all designs comply with relevant legislation, industry standards, and client requirements

Prepare specifications and requisitions for electrical equipment, including HV/LV switchboards, transformers, and UPS systems

Participate in risk assessments, HSE compliance, and regulatory reviews
Requirements

Extensive experience in electrical engineering within the nuclear or energy sector

Strong knowledge of electrical design, installation standards, and UK regulations

Experience with CE marking compliance and relevant engineering directives

Eligible for security clearance in the UK

Degree-qualified in Electrical or Control Engineering

Chartered Engineer status or working towards registration is preferred

Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead technical teams
