Job Title: Principal Electrical & Instrument Engineer – Water Sector

Overview
We are seeking a Principal Electrical & Instrument Engineer to join a leading engineering consultancy supporting major projects in the water sector. This is a dynamic opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys working across all project phases, from feasibility and FEED through to detailed design and construction support. You will play a key role in delivering water and wastewater projects for utilities across the UK.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and approve electrical and control deliverables across the full project lifecycle

Manage electrical design activities from concept to delivery for water sector projects

Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, contractors, and stakeholders

Develop electrical load schedules and specify telemetry, MCCs, and instrumentation

Prepare scopes of work for subcontract installation and perform technical bid evaluations

Support site surveys, construction liaison, and commissioning activities

Ensure compliance with national and international standards, including WIMES

Promote safety, sustainability, and best practice in all aspects of delivery
Requirements

Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Control Engineering

Chartered status or working towards Chartership with a recognised professional institution

Strong background in EICA design within the water or wastewater sector

Experience reviewing and approving documentation for construction

Good knowledge of UK regulations including ATEX, CE/UKCA, EMC, and PED

Proven ability to manage risk, safety, and quality in project delivery

Strong communication and leadership skills with a proactive, hands-on approach
