Job Title: Principal Electrical & Instrument Engineer – Water Sector
Location: London, United Kingdom (Hybrid, 1–2 days per week office-based)
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Overview
We are seeking a Principal Electrical & Instrument Engineer to join a leading engineering consultancy supporting major projects in the water sector. This is a dynamic opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys working across all project phases, from feasibility and FEED through to detailed design and construction support. You will play a key role in delivering water and wastewater projects for utilities across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and approve electrical and control deliverables across the full project lifecycle

  • Manage electrical design activities from concept to delivery for water sector projects

  • Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, contractors, and stakeholders

  • Develop electrical load schedules and specify telemetry, MCCs, and instrumentation

  • Prepare scopes of work for subcontract installation and perform technical bid evaluations

  • Support site surveys, construction liaison, and commissioning activities

  • Ensure compliance with national and international standards, including WIMES

  • Promote safety, sustainability, and best practice in all aspects of delivery

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Control Engineering

  • Chartered status or working towards Chartership with a recognised professional institution

  • Strong background in EICA design within the water or wastewater sector

  • Experience reviewing and approving documentation for construction

  • Good knowledge of UK regulations including ATEX, CE/UKCA, EMC, and PED

  • Proven ability to manage risk, safety, and quality in project delivery

  • Strong communication and leadership skills with a proactive, hands-on approach
