Job Title: Pre-Commissioning & Commissioning Planner

Location: Ras Laffan, Qatar

Contract: 1 Year

Work Schedule: 5 Days per Week

Reports To: Commissioning Manager

The Opportunity

Join a leading petrochemical project team delivering large-scale ethylene storage facilities. As a Pre-Commissioning & Commissioning Planner, you will be responsible for planning and overseeing pre-commissioning and commissioning activities to ensure safe, efficient, and on-schedule start-up of new facilities. This role requires strong coordination with EPC contractors, operations teams, and project leadership to achieve high standards of safety, quality, and operational readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and implement pre-commissioning and commissioning plans aligned with contract requirements.
  • Support safe and reliable start-up, ensuring all systems meet operational, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Lead and mentor commissioning team members, promoting operational discipline, adherence to procedures, and safety-first culture.
  • Ensure commissioning activities comply with EHSS requirements, Lock Tag and Try, Permit-to-Work systems, and SIMOPS procedures.
  • Coordinate closely with construction, operations, and engineering teams to facilitate seamless transition from construction to commissioning.
  • Monitor project progress, schedule, budget, and resources, providing timely updates and recommendations to project leadership.
  • Review contractor plans, procedures, and documentation including flushing, cleaning, drying, and system turnover.
  • Participate in operational readiness reviews, HAZOP/LOPA sessions, and lessons learned exercises.
  • Ensure commissioning and start-up activities consider community impact, noise, and environmental considerations.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, system acceptance, and as-built data.

Candidate Profile

  • Degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in pre-commissioning and commissioning on large-scale petrochemical or process projects.
  • Strong knowledge of project planning, commissioning processes, and operational readiness requirements.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills with ability to mentor junior engineers.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office and familiar with planning and scheduling tools.
  • Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental compliance.
