Overview
A leading international insurance organisation is expanding its engineering risk capability due to continued growth and new business awards. This is an opportunity for an experienced power or industrial engineer to move into a specialist risk engineering role within a long-term, stable sector.
The role focuses on advising clients and underwriters on complex power and industrial risks, helping to reduce financial exposure through practical engineering insight, strong communication, and structured risk evaluation.
You will work with large, often multinational organisations and collaborate closely with underwriting and claims teams, brokers, and client engineering management.
Key responsibilities

Provide clear, objective risk management advice based on evaluation of engineering and operational risk exposures

Develop and agree loss estimates and support informed underwriting decisions

Create and apply practical tools and methodologies to support risk control and loss prevention

Maintain and continuously develop professional engineering knowledge within areas of expertise

Build strong working relationships with clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders

Plan, prioritise, and conduct site visits as part of technical risk management programmes

Support underwriting and claims teams through technical input, training, and education

Promote continuous improvement within team workflows and technical processes

Maintain credibility as a trusted engineering and risk professional within the insurance market
Skills, qualifications, and experience

Degree-qualified engineer, preferably in Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline

Minimum of 10 years hands-on engineering experience within power generation or heavy industrial environments

Background in maintenance, operations, safety management, or asset management within complex facilities

Experience within conventional power generation and large-scale industrial projects

Exposure to battery manufacturing or gigafactory environments is advantageous

Insurance engineering experience with an insurer or reinsurer is beneficial but not essential

Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

Comfortable working with senior stakeholders across client, broker, and insurer environments

PC literate with a good working knowledge of standard office software

Curious, analytical mindset with an interest in both engineering and the wider business environment
Languages

Additional languages such as French, Spanish, German, Italian, or Turkish are advantageous
