Position: Power Risk Engineer – Permanent

Overview:
A global insurance company is seeking experienced Power Risk Engineers to join their team. The role involves conducting field surveys of industrial power plants, analyzing risks, and advising clients on loss prevention measures. This is a high-profile role for professionals with strong engineering backgrounds and experience in conventional power, CHP, hydropower, and industrial facilities.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop and manage power risk engineering field survey programmes.

Perform operational and construction surveys of power plants, CHP, and hydropower facilities.

Meet client representatives across departments to verify risk mitigation approaches.

Advise clients on loss prevention, risk reduction, and improvement of operational safety practices.

Lead surveys and present results to site management, focusing on risk analysis, decision-making, and recommendations.

Review and analyze third-party survey reports, summarizing risk information for internal stakeholders.

Present conclusions clearly to underwriters, supporting profitable underwriting decisions.

Technical Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; Master’s or Chartered status preferred.

Strong engineering knowledge and practical experience in industrial power environments.

Understanding of Process Safety Management concepts and applications.

Experience in major projects, turnarounds, and/or construction activities in industrial plants.
Experience Required:

10–20+ years applying engineering expertise in power plants, including operations, inspection, maintenance, consultancy, projects, and process safety.

Previous consultancy experience is highly valued.

Experience with major insurance carriers or brokers is an advantage, including risk assessment of construction projects.
