Position Title: Power Risk Engineer
Location: Remote – United Kingdom

Role Purpose:

Join a global insurance leader as they expand their UK client portfolio. As a Power Risk Engineer, you will act as a subject matter expert providing technical consultancy and risk engineering services to major clients across the power generation and energy sector. You will support underwriting, risk evaluation, and insurance programme placement, helping clients transition towards a low-carbon future.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead client relationships by delivering tailored consultancy services, including on-site underwriting surveys and detailed insurance market reports.

  • Develop and deliver client training, technical advice, and support on engineering risk issues.

  • Collaborate with internal practice groups to identify and pursue new business opportunities worldwide.

  • Support insurance brokers in the placement of client insurance programmes.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with the international energy insurance engineering community.

  • Contribute to innovation programmes involving service development, product enhancement, and data analytics.

  • Identify and assess engineering risks throughout all stages of power projects and recommend risk mitigation strategies.

  • Provide technical leadership and contribute to the development of internal risk engineering procedures.

  • Act as a key advisor on engineering aspects of low-carbon technology and energy transition.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related discipline).

  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.

  • Membership in a recognised engineering institution preferred.


Experience:

  • Extensive technical experience in power generation (conventional or renewable) or electricity transmission.

  • Background in technical consultancy or operational roles with asset owners/operators.

  • Proven experience delivering high-quality written reports to industry standards.

  • Exposure to client-facing roles in an engineering or insurance consultancy context.

Note: This is a remote UK-based role. Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the United Kingdom.
