JOB TITLE: POWER GENERATION AREA MANAGER

LOCATION: AFUNGI - CABO DELGADO, MOZAMBIQUE

ASSIGNMENT TYPE: ROTATIONAL - 28/28 ROTATIONAL

START DATE: ASAP

CONTRACT LENGTH: ANNUALLY RENEWABLE CONTRACT

Key Responsibilities:

- Inspire a strong safety commitment in both client and EPC contractor teams through deep HSE knowledge and lead by example.

- Ensure compliance with all relevant HSE requirements to promote a safe and healthy working environment.

- Support Project Manager in overall site management and be a member of the site Emergency Management Team.

- Develop team spirit, foster teamwork, and build trust within the team, encouraging personal and professional development.

- Oversee the installation readiness of a centralised 300 MW power generation system, ensuring all infrastructure is constructed and integrated according to project specifications and international standards.

- Coordinate and monitor all construction activities in the assigned area up to the system handover to the Commissioning team.

- Maintain strong working relationships with EPC Contractor, managing routine and critical issues effectively.

- Facilitate the development of execution plans, method statements and procedures to ensure work plans align with project strategies and deliverables.

- Ensure physical site presence (direct or via supervisors) to demonstrate safety commitment and construction oversight.

- Review construction progress, report internally, and identify potential risks or scheduling deviations and propose mitigation solutions.

- Analyze current and anticipated issues, identify risks, and recommend technical and organizational solutions.

- Prepare and monitor the execution of pre-commissioning and the transition to commissioning, including during SIMOPS activities.

- Participate in project peer assists, reviews, and technical assurance reviews to ensure procedural compliance.

- Monitor the effectiveness of the EPC Contractor's construction management processes.

- Attend and lead construction planning meetings, ensuring proper issue resolution and follow-up.

Context and Environment:

- This project is a multinational joint venture with significant social performance responsibilities and is financed by prominent international lenders.

- The Afungi Site is extremely remote with unreliable infrastructure and communications.

- The site is subject to strict health and safety measures due to malaria, COVID-19, and general security concerns.

- Rotational role.

Accountabilities:

- Responsible for the safe delivery of onshore facilities through the construction phase and handover to Operations as per the approved schedule and cost.

- Coordinate with other departments to ensure the safe and timely execution of work, delivering a fit-for-purpose facility.

- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and environmental standards for large-scale power generation facilities, including emissions, safety, and operational performance.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

- Degree in Engineering or a relevant subject is required; advanced degree or professional qualifications are preferred.

- Minimum 20 years' experience, with at least 10 years in management roles related to power generation or similar fields.

- At least 10 years' experience on large greenfield projects such as LNG liquefaction, GTL, petrochemical, refinery, or gas processing/feedstock plants (LNG experience preferred).

- In-depth understanding of key project success areas: safety, environmental, work organization, cost, schedule, quality, organizational competency, and reputational risk.

- Strong HSE culture and safety leadership, with effective communication and leadership skills.

- Strong proficiency in English (written and verbal); Portuguese or French language skills are advantageous.

Contract Type: Annually renewable, rotational basis (28/28 rotation).

Work Schedule: Rotation on a remote site in Mozambique.
