Plant Supervisor – Industrial Operations | Sheffield | Monday to Friday (08:00 – 17:00)

About the Role

The Plant Supervisor will assist in the daily running of the facility, supporting the Plant Manager and deputising in their absence. You will oversee production and maintenance activities, ensure compliance with safety and engineering standards, and help lead operational teams to meet business targets.

You will also be involved in asset control, site safety, security, and supporting team development. The position includes responsibility for maintaining a productive, safe, and legally compliant working environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support daily site operations and act as deputy to the Plant Manager when required.

  • Oversee site infrastructure and ensure engineering standards are upheld.

  • Coordinate production and maintenance activities within agreed performance, budget, and compliance targets.

  • Provide cover for Production Shift Managers as needed.

  • Manage site security, administration, asset control, and visitor induction processes.

  • Lead emergency response procedures and ensure readiness.

  • Coach and support team members including shift managers, supervisors, and the maintenance team.

  • Engage with internal departments and external partners, including recognised trade union representatives.

  • Promote and maintain a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Candidate Requirements

  • HNC or HND in engineering or related discipline (or willingness to obtain).

  • NEBOSH/IOSH certification or equivalent (or willingness to obtain).

  • Experience in a supervisory or leadership role within an industrial environment.

  • Strong understanding of people development and team leadership.

  • Experience working with trade unions and applying organisational policies within union frameworks.

  • Proven ability to manage and motivate teams while maintaining high operational standards.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to build effective relationships at all levels.

  • Flexible and responsive to changing business needs.
