Plant Supervisor – Industrial Operations | Dorking | Monday to Friday (08:00 – 17:00)

A rapidly expanding global industrial organisation is seeking a Plant Supervisor for its operations in Dorking. With a strong presence across the UK and Europe, the business is involved in sectors including oil and gas, chemicals, recycling, renewables, and energy.

About the Role

The Plant Supervisor will support the Plant Manager in overseeing daily operations and will act as their deputy when required. The role includes managing production and maintenance functions, ensuring compliance with operational standards, and maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.

You will lead and support key teams including production shift managers, supervisors, and the site maintenance function. You will also have responsibility for asset control, site administration, and emergency response.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support daily plant operations and deputise for the Plant Manager.

  • Ensure maintenance of site infrastructure and fixed assets to agreed engineering standards.

  • Manage production and maintenance activities in line with performance, budget, and legislative targets.

  • Provide cover for Production Shift Managers as needed.

  • Oversee site security, administration, asset control, and visitor processes.

  • Implement and support emergency response procedures.

  • Coach and mentor operational staff and support their professional development.

  • Build strong working relationships with internal departments and external partners, including trade union representatives.

  • Foster a positive safety culture and support continuous operational improvement.

Candidate Requirements

  • HNC or HND in an engineering or technical discipline (or commitment to complete).

  • NEBOSH or IOSH certification (or equivalent, or commitment to obtain).

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within an industrial, processing, or manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated capability in team leadership and development.

  • Experience working in a unionised environment and applying organisational procedures in line with recognised agreements.

  • Ability to manage operational change and meet fluctuating business demands.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills at all levels.

  • Commitment to upholding safety, integrity, and inclusive workplace values.
