Plant Manager
Location: Azerbaijan
Overview
An established energy operator is seeking a Plant Team Leader to oversee the operation and maintenance of power generation and high voltage assets. This includes solar PV, battery energy storage systems, transmission lines, substations, and associated infrastructure. The role focuses on maximising asset performance, reliability, and safety while ensuring compliance with regulatory and environmental standards.
The Role
Reporting to the O&M Manager, you will lead plant operations and maintenance activities, ensuring efficient and safe power generation while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Safety, Quality, and Compliance
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with HSE standards
- Implement safety training programs and enforce LOTO procedures and PPE use
- Ensure compliance with local and international regulations and standards
- Support environmental management, including emissions and waste control
- Prepare for and manage audits, inspections, and compliance reporting
- Interface with external stakeholders including regulators and technical advisors
- Implement and maintain standard operating procedures for normal and emergency operations
Operations and Strategy
- Develop and implement operational plans aligned with business objectives
- Define and monitor KPIs for efficiency, reliability, and safety
- Optimise performance of PV, BESS, and HV systems
- Support integration of new technologies and system enhancements
- Oversee daily operations to ensure safe and efficient plant performance
Operations and Maintenance Oversight
- Oversee plant operations ensuring continuous and reliable power generation
- Manage O&M and long-term service agreements in line with contractual requirements
- Coordinate preventive and predictive maintenance activities
- Monitor performance metrics such as MTBF and MTTR to improve reliability
- Ensure all maintenance activities meet industry best practices
Reporting and Stakeholder Management
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting in line with corporate governance standards
- Support communication between plant operations and wider business functions
- Engage with external stakeholders as required
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead and develop operations and maintenance teams
- Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship
- Support succession planning and capability development
Financial and Resource Management
- Manage O&M budgets and ensure cost-effective operations
- Oversee procurement, vendor management, and spare parts planning
- Monitor operational costs and implement efficiency improvements
- Provide financial and operational performance reports
Continuous Improvement
- Drive initiatives to improve efficiency, reliability, and cost performance
- Promote digital tools and system enhancements including SCADA
- Support energy optimisation and integration strategies
- Encourage innovation and cross-functional collaboration
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline
- Master’s degree in engineering management or business administration preferred
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in plant management within power generation
- Strong experience with PV, BESS, and high voltage systems
- Knowledge of SCADA systems, predictive maintenance, and asset management tools
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and safety standards
- Experience in budget management and operational cost control
- Proven leadership and team management capability
