Overview
A leading energy operator is seeking a Plant Inspector to support inspection activities during the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) and startup phases. The role ensures safe, efficient, and reliable operation of new facilities through early defect detection, adherence to standards, and compliance with policies, procedures, and project targets.
Generic Accountabilities
- Safety, Health & Environment: Ensure all activities comply with safety, health, environmental, and quality policies and standards
- Qatarization Program: Support development of local employees where applicable
- Firewall Compliance: Ensure compliance with anti-trust and competition laws and internal policies
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct visual and non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections on equipment, piping, vessels, boilers, heat exchangers, lifting equipment, and other assets
- Perform preliminary integrity assessments of static equipment and piping and issue inspection reports
- Inspect maintenance and capital projects to ensure compliance with welding, painting, fabrication, and installation standards
- Carry out or supervise NDT tests including dye penetrant, magnetic particle, ultrasonic, hardness, eddy current, IRIS, thermography, PMI, metallography, boroscopy, and other required techniques
- Initiate inspection recommendations and track progress to completion to mitigate risks
- Maintain inspection tools, instruments, and equipment in operational condition; coordinate procurement as needed
- Undertake additional inspection tasks as directed by senior inspection staff
- Ensure proper maintenance of inspection records and reports; update computerized systems and track work through SAP or similar platforms
- Coordinate and supervise contractor teams to ensure compliance with company requirements and quality standards
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree or HND in Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or equivalent Engineering discipline
- For degree holders: minimum 2 years' in-service inspection experience
- For HND holders: minimum 4 years' in-service inspection experience
Technical and Business Skills
- Fluent in English (written and verbal)
- Computer literate in MS Word, Excel, and relevant inspection software
- Experience with Meridium or similar data management systems
- Knowledge of risk-based inspection, corrosion control, and damage mechanisms
- Basic awareness of plant processes and materials
- Knowledge of inspection technologies: UT, MT, PT, RT, and advanced NDT methods
- Familiarity with relevant international codes and standards
- Certification in API 510, 570, or equivalent; API 653 as required
