Job Title: Planning Specialist (EPC Projects)
Location: Oman (Site-Based)
Contract Type: 36-month contract

Overview
We are supporting a major international energy operator in the search for an experienced Planning Specialist to join a high-profile EPC project. This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in delivering complex oil and gas infrastructure projects, ensuring schedules are robust, accurate, and aligned with project objectives.

You will be responsible for overseeing project scheduling, progress measurement, and performance monitoring across all phases of engineering, procurement, and construction.

The Role
You will take ownership of project planning and scheduling activities, including:

  • Developing and maintaining detailed construction and commissioning schedules aligned with approved project scope
  • Reviewing contractor project control procedures to ensure compliance with project requirements
  • Monitoring and validating contractor progress reports and progress measurement systems
  • Assessing EPC contractor schedules for logic, sequencing, and interface coordination
  • Integrating subcontractor, vendor, and supplier schedules into the master project schedule
  • Tracking delivery timelines for critical equipment and materials
  • Monitoring contractor performance against agreed project control baselines
  • Evaluating schedule impacts of project changes and incorporating approved adjustments
  • Identifying potential delays and recommending corrective actions
  • Leading regular progress review meetings and reporting project status to senior stakeholders

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in project planning and controls within EPC oil and gas projects
  • At least 5 years of site-based scheduling experience
  • Strong understanding of project controls methodologies and scheduling principles
  • Proven experience managing complex project schedules in fast-paced environments
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work under tight deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 (version 18 or above)
  • Experience with schedule risk analysis tools
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

  • Ability to influence stakeholders and drive project outcomes
