Job Title: Planning Specialist

Location: Sohar, Oman (Onshore)

Contract: 36 Months (with possibility of extension)

Work Schedule: 10 hours/day, 6 days/week

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Planning Specialist to support EPC project schedules and controls for major onshore oil and gas projects. This role involves developing, maintaining, monitoring, and integrating construction and commissioning schedules, verifying progress, and ensuring compliance with project processes and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain project construction and commissioning schedules reflecting approved design and execution scope.
  • Review contractor project control procedures to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Check and verify contractor progress reports for accuracy.
  • Review and monitor EPC contractor schedules for logic, detail, and interfaces.
  • Integrate subcontractor schedules into overall EPC schedules.
  • Ensure vendor and supplier schedules for critical equipment and bulk materials are integrated and monitored.
  • Monitor and appraise contractor performance against project control plans.
  • Evaluate project changes for schedule impact and incorporate approved changes into overall schedules.
  • Advise on potential schedule issues, provide corrective actions, and verify implementation.
  • Conduct periodic meetings with contractors to review progress and report project status to management.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, Accounting, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in project scheduling and controls for EPC oil and gas projects.
  • At least 5 years' site or field scheduling experience.
  • Strong knowledge of project controls principles, progress measurement, and schedule integration.
  • Hands-on experience with Primavera P6 (v18+) and schedule risk analysis software.
  • Excellent written and verbal English skills, strong planning, organisation, and prioritisation skills.
  • Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities.
