Maintenance Planner
Location: Qatar
Department: Maintenance / Engineering
Role Purpose
Coordinate and plan maintenance activities to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations of plant equipment, including pressure vessels, tanks, columns, furnaces, exchangers, valves, and rotating machinery. Lead maintenance scheduling, reporting, and work order management while supporting continuous improvement in plant reliability.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (any discipline) or equivalent from a recognised university
- Proficiency in English (spoken, written, and reading)
- Knowledge of plant safety standards and procedures
- Ability to write and communicate complex ideas, instructions, and procedures clearly
Experience
- Minimum 4 years' experience in refinery, petrochemical, or oil & gas plant maintenance planning
- Strong supervisory experience with practical knowledge in leading teams
- Thorough understanding of plant equipment including pressure vessels, columns, tanks, exchangers, furnaces, trays, valves, and rotating equipment
- Familiarity with CMMS, SAP, and maintenance programs, practices, and procedures
- Awareness of petrochemical plant safety hazards
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead the maintenance planning process including setting goals, schedules, and evaluation methods
- Assign and monitor scheduled jobs, ensuring timely completion and safety compliance
- Write and maintain maintenance procedures, standards, and reports
- Analyse and diagnose maintenance problems to propose solutions
- Supervise work order close-out activities to ensure data integrity for Maintenance Engineering
- Develop work requirements and job plans for labor and planned equipment outages
- Schedule preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance (CM) work orders
- Support SAP functionality and tools to optimise planning and scheduling
- Motivate and manage maintenance personnel, including handling issues, coaching, and discipline
- Maintain and review equipment history records in CMMS for accuracy and completeness
- Collaborate effectively across all levels of the organisation to ensure alignment and operational efficiency
