Piping Engineering Lead

Location: Qatar (Onshore)

Contract: 3 years

Overview

An opportunity is available for an experienced Piping Engineering Lead to support a major energy infrastructure programme in Qatar. This role focuses on leading piping design and layout activities across complex projects, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operations.

You will provide technical leadership across both greenfield and brownfield scopes, working closely with engineering teams, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality design solutions aligned with project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead piping engineering design and layout activities across large-scale projects
  • Ensure designs meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to align on project objectives and deliverables
  • Oversee piping layout development for both greenfield and brownfield scopes
  • Support development and review of 3D models to ensure clash-free and constructible designs
  • Provide guidance on material selection considering corrosion, environment, and operational conditions
  • Ensure cost-effective design decisions balancing performance, durability, and maintenance
  • Review and support piping stress analysis, including thermal, pressure, and dynamic loading considerations
  • Ensure understanding and application of relevant engineering codes and standards
  • Work closely with contractors and vendors to ensure design compliance and delivery expectations
  • Support project delivery targets related to schedule, cost, quality, and safety

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in piping engineering within oil and gas or similar industries
  • Strong experience in offshore piping layout and design
  • Minimum 5 years of brownfield experience including modifications and tie-ins
  • Experience with greenfield project design and development
  • Strong understanding of piping layout principles and constructability
  • Knowledge of piping codes and international standards
  • Understanding of stress analysis and ability to review reports
  • Knowledge of vibration and acoustic considerations in piping systems (FIV/AIV)
  • Experience in material selection and corrosion management
  • Ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Strong communication and coordination skills

Additional Information

  • Experience in large-scale offshore or onshore energy projects is preferred
  • Familiarity with 3D modelling tools and digital design environments is advantageous
  • Strong focus on safety, quality, and project delivery
