Position Title: Piping Engineering Lead

Job Location: Qatar, Onshore

Work Schedule: 10 hrs/day, 6 days/week (26 days/month)

Contract Term: 36 Months (with possibility of extension)

Job Description Overview:

The Piping Engineering Lead will lead the contractor in designing and overseeing the layout of piping systems for offshore facilities, ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the Onshore Assets. This role involves close coordination with contractors and cross-functional teams to meet project expectations while adhering to quality, cost, safety, and schedule targets.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Safety Considerations:
   • Ensure that all piping systems for offshore environments are designed in compliance with industry safety standards and regulations.
2. Team Collaboration:
   • Foster clear communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams to align on project goals and ensure successful outcomes.
3. Greenfield and Brownfield Layouts:
   • Understand the unique requirements of both Greenfield (GF) and Brownfield (BF) layouts, incorporating operational fundamentals into each design.
4. 3D Modeling:
   • Utilize 3D modeling to visualize piping systems, ensuring efficient, clash-free designs that address construction needs effectively.
5. Material Selection:
   • Address challenges related to corrosion, material degradation, and the selection of materials resistant to these factors, while considering costs, longevity, and ease of maintenance.
6. Stress Analysis:
   • Conduct stress analysis to ensure the safety and integrity of the piping system, taking into account thermal expansion, dynamic loading, pressure, and temperature.
7. Stress Analysis Software:
   • Use stress analysis software to simulate and analyze piping systems under various loads, identifying weak points and optimizing design.

      

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum Experience: 8 years in the industry, with at least 5 years in Brownfield (BF) piping layout and design.
• Expertise in Greenfield layout design and a strong understanding of piping layout and design for both Greenfield and Brownfield environments.
• Knowledge of Stress Analysis, FIV/AIV, and code requirements for piping design.

Key Skills & Knowledge:

• Greenfield Layout Design: Experience with offshore facilities layout design.
• Brownfield Layout Design: Expertise in piping layout and design for retrofit and modifications, including piping tie-ins.
• Piping Material Requirements: In-depth knowledge of material selection criteria and compatibility based on fluid types and environmental conditions.
• Quality, Safety, Schedule, and Cost Management: Ability to balance and ensure that project quality, safety, schedule, and cost targets are met.
